Just a quick introduction. My name is Scott Myers. I teach the Aviation Flight and UAS: Unmanned Aircraft Systems Pilot classes here at Siegel High School. I'm starting my fourth year here at Siegel and this is my eighth year teaching these classes. I'm a license airframe and powerplant mechanic with an inspection authorization rating. I'm also a private pilot and I have a commercial drone pilots license as well. I enjoy mostly local flying and we have a 1959 Piper Comanche 250 that we take on short trips. My other hobbies include watching dirt track racing and iRacing online. My wife Tricia, who also teaches here at Siegel, and I like to ride motorcycles as well. We have a 2020 Indian Challenger and a 2002 Aprilia RSV Mille R.

Welcome to the Aviation Flight classes. Obviously, this is going to be a different type of school year. We will have learners that will be here in the building with us and we will also have learners that will be at home. The Aviation Flight classes will all be online. Students here in the building will have the same lessons as our distance learners. The only difference will be that our students here will have access to all our flight Sims and any other resources that we have in the classroom. I ask for patience and flexibility as we move forward learning how to distance learn. This is a new transition for all of us and if you are one of my former students you know how much hands-on work that we use in this classroom. Every effort will be made to make sure our distance learners have the resources they need to get is much out of this class as they can.

I need to tell you that the distance learning part of this is not one of my strengths. I will make mistakes in getting you lessons, assignments and test. Your patience and flexibility as we transition through this will go a long way. I will give you the same amount of patience and flexibility on my end.

On this page you can find a link to Kiddom. This is where you will find our lessons. Most of the lessons on Kiddom will direct you to the Microsoft teams page. As our classes begin, our lessons will be due on Fridays. I know some of you will like to work a head and we will give you an opportunity to do that. There are a few assignments that are posted in Microsoft Teams that some of you have already completed. Starting on Monday August the 17th all our lessons will only be viewable through the Kiddom website. In other words, you’ll have to go through the Kiddom website to get the lessons that are in Microsoft teams.

As always, if you have any questions you are welcome to contact me any time via email  at [email protected] or through the school’s land line. The phone number 615-904-3800. My extension is 29685.

Aviation Flight Classes - August 17-21

This week in all the Aviation Flight classes we will be getting ready for our yearly CTE General Safety Test. All students will have to pass the test and score 100%. Each student will get 3 attempts to complete the test and pass with a score of 100 to continue with the Aviation Flight class they are attending. A three part study guide can be found on Kiddom for review and studying. Once we complete the General Safety Test we will work on either an introduction or a review of the Flight Simulators in our Aviation Sim Lab. If you are a distant learner there will be on line options for you.
Here are links to some Aviation related website that will be a good resource for distant learner and in classroom students.
