University of Alabama (Blount Scholars Program) 

This program is a focused in the liberal arts as a four year living and learning community. It features small seminar style classes, extensive exposure to faculty, and an integrated interdisciplinary curriculum leading to a minor in Liberal Arts. Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship 

This scholarship is available to a minority high school senior who plans to attend a four year college, shows leadership potential, demonstrates a dedication to community service, shows evidence of financial need, a US citizen, and a minimum composite of 21 on the ACT. Mississippi State University (College of Education) 

Mississippi State offers the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to recruit and prepare teacher candidates for the education profession. Qualified applicants must have a 28 or above on the ACT and a 3.5 GPA. Scholars receive an award covering full tuition, books, room and board, and expenses for four years of attendance along with a one time technology stipend. To apply for the award applicants must first be admitted to Mississippi State and complete the METP (Excellence in Teaching Program) by December 1st. Jack Diller Education Award Scholarship 

This scholarship is sponsored by the Nashville Predators Foundation. Siegel can nominate two males and two females for this award. Each recipient will receive a scholarship for $2500. Students must complete the online application, sign an eligibility form, taking into consideration academic achievement, athletic success, and community involvement students will be required to write a 2-3 page essay explaining why they are a deserving candidate, two letters of recommendation, and an official transcript are required. US Presidential Scholars Program 

This program was established to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Tennessee will recommend twenty high school seniors to represent our state in this program. This is based on academic success, perseverance, and

exceptional ACT scores. The application emphasizes academic achievement, leadership skills, community involvement, overcoming obstacles, and strong writing skills. Students must complete the online application by November 15, 2017. Please see your counselor if you wish to be nominated ASAP.

 

Concordia College (Alabama)

Kyle William Kiihnl Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is a memorial to a Houston High School student who lost his life in a car accident to a driver who fell sleep. The applicant must be a graduating senior in the Class of 2018 and finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee. Applicants must have a cover letter, and a 400 word minimum essay on one of these topics: explain why Maggie’s Law is a major step forward in getting us to realize the seriousness of driving sleepy, describe a drowsy driving incident experienced by you, a friend, or family member. What led up to the incident and how could it have been prevented?, or should drowsy driving by prosecuted like drunk driving or texting while driving? Also attach an acceptance letter to college or trade school. The scholarship packet must be postmarked no later than February 23, 2018 and be mailed to Kyle Kihnl Memorial Scholarship, 1886 Penshurst Drive, Colliersville, TN 38017. The scholarship committee will review essays and the recipient will be announced on March 23, 2018.

John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Essay Contest

This scholarship contest is open to students in 9-12th grade. Students must write an essay describing and analyzing an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 197 the year of JFK’s birth. The essay may focus on an issue at the local, state, or national level. Students must use at least five varied sources. The essays must be a minimum of 700 but no more than 1,000 words. United State Senate Youth Program

This is an opportunity for juniors and seniors. This senate is held in Washington DC March 3-10, 2018. Go to ussenateyouth.org for more details.

National Youth Science Camp - This is an honors program for two high school high achieving students from each state in the nation and around the world. This residential summer experience is held in West Virginia. This includes lectures and seminars, Directed studies, and adventure programs. To apply go to http://apply.nysc.org.

 

Tennessee Academic Decathlon Competition

University of North Georgia

These are Army ROTC scholarship that are offered through the University of North Georgia. General Army ROTC Scholarships, STEM Majors, Arabic and Chinese Language majors, and Guarnteed Reserve Force Duty Scholarships are available. Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program

This scholarship is open to students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher, a high school senior, plans to attend a technical school or college in the US, possesses demonstrated leadership abilities, and demonstrates a commitment to community service. This is a $1000 scholarship

and the deadline is November 30, 2017. See your counselor if you wish to be nominated.

 

Essay Writing Expert Essay Contest 

This scholarship is based on writing an essay following the guidelines attached and the topics included. You are required to write an essay consisting of 900-1000 words, following the MS Word Format. All work must be composed in English language, and you are required to mention all your contact info on a separate page. We a have strict policy against plagiarism and we advise the candidates to refrain from engaging in plagiarism, as we will thoroughly examine each essay to ensure that the writers have produced original content. Your essay will get disqualified if it is suspected to be plagiarized. Bethel University

The competition, which will be held in November this year, is a two-day event where students are tested in academic ability. The winner of the competition will earn full tuition, room and board. A runner-up will earn full tuition. All others who compete will be considered for Bethel’s other institutional grants. In order to be considered for the Hendrix Competition, you must be a high school senior with at least a 3.25 GPA and a 23/*1050 or above ACT/SAT score. The winner and runner up must maintain a 3.6 GPA to renew the scholarship each year.*The 1050 SAT score is a combination of Critical Reading and Math only. Students must first apply to Bethel to be eligible for this program, apply for this competition, and submit an official transcript & ACT score. The competition will be held November 10 & 11, 2017.

 

MTEMC Sharing Change Scholarship 

MTEMC is funding 10 $2000 scholarship for students in the cooperative’s area. Interested persons must be an MTEMC member or

dependent of an MTEMC member. The scholarship funds must be used to attend a Tennessee 2- or 4-year accredited college or trade school. Applicants must be an entering freshmen or currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student. Scholarship applicants will be judged on a point system including a financial needs assessment, current grade point average, involvement in community service, leadership roles and their score on the essay. The applicants with the top points will be the winners. Applicants will complete a one-page essay stating how the scholarship funds will benefit their personal goals. The deadline is March 15, 2018. Middle Tennessee State University

The deadline for university scholarships is December 1st, 2017 and you will be applied for guaranteed scholarships when you apply.

The Buchanan Fellowship is awarded through the prestigious MTSU Honors College, and is the highest academic award given to an entering freshman at Middle Tennessee State University. Students must plan to enroll for the first time in the summer or fall semester to be eligible for the Buchanan Fellowship.

Buchanan Fellows must complete a separate application process that is administered through the Honors College. Fellows selected for participation enter the university as a part of an elite cohort and participate in a specially designed cohort curriculum of courses. Fellows receive a host of special benefits including a full tuition scholarship for up to 16 credits each semester, special seminars, priority registration, a book allowance, priority consideration for study abroad, and much more. The Buchanan Fellowship award is guaranteed for four years, providing you continue to meet all requirements.

To compete for a Buchanan Fellowship, an applicant must

§ apply for undergraduate admission to Middle Tennessee

§ complete and return the Buchanan application form to the Honors College by December 1 of the year prior to fall enrollment

§ have a high school GPA greater than or equal to 3.5

§ have a composite ACT greater than or equal to 29 (or SAT equivalent)

University of Dayton

Any student wishing to attend this college can see their counselor about being nominated for their Leadership In Service Scholarship worth $10000. The scholarship is based on a passion for personal development and a commitment to community service.

 

Parentinn’s Scholarship

This scholarship is based on their campaign for cyberbullying awarenss. The award amount is $1250 for high school students and the deadline is February 28, 2018. Go to www.parentinn.com/scholarship for more details.

 

University of Virginia 

Any student who would like to be nominated for the Jefferson Scholars Foundation please see your counselor. Nominations are completed by both school officials and students and include a scholastic report, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters and two essays.

    The Scholarship

         Thomas Jefferson’s University of Virginia is a place where producing leaders for a self-governing people has always been a primary goal. The           undergraduate scholarship program has been attracting and cultivating undergraduate leaders since 1980, providing them sufficient financial              support so that they are free to develop their talents and to use them for the good of the University community.

        Award - Intended to cover the entire cost of attendance for four years at the University of Virginia plus coverage of the supplemental                          enrichment experiences

        Total value of the scholarship exceeds:

· $280,000 for non-Virginian students

· $150,000 for Virginian students

The Jefferson Scholar Stipend in 2017-2018 will exceed:

· $62,000 for non-Virginian students

· $31,500 for Virginian students

· Jefferson Scholars’ stipend includes tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, board, and personal expenses.

Enrichment - The scholarship also includes an extensive enrichment program which supports and nurtures these students throughout their four years.

 

Tennessee Concrete Association

This high school essay contest is open to all students 16-18. The essay must be less than 600 words. The topic and the entry form are available in guidance or at www.tnconcrete.org. Prizes are $250, $100, and $50.

 

Davidson College

Any student interested in attending Davidson and applying for their John W. Belk Scholarship should see their counselor in guidance. This scholarship recognizes and rewards students of demonstrated intellectual and personal achievement and significant leadership ability. The scholarship is valued at $63,903 for the 2017-18 school year.

 

American Musical and Dramatic Academy (New York) & College and Conservatory of Performing Arts (Los Angeles)

This school will be having a National Audition Tour for admisstions. Majors include Acting, Music Theatre, Dance Theatre, Performing Arts, Studio Program, Integrated Program, and Dance Conservatory Program. Go to amda.edu or call 800-367-7908 for more details. Scarlett Family Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship applies to students who demonstrate financial need, graduate from designated counties, pursuing a

business or STEM degree, and plan on enrolling in college full-time for the 2018-19 school year. The award is renewable and can be used at any college. The deadline is December 17, 2017. The application and details can be found at www.scarlettfoundation.org/Scholarships.

 
 
SEPTEMBER 15, 2017

 

Suntrust Off to College Scholarship 

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors. Beginning September 12, 2017 students can enter online once during every entry period. Two $500 scholarship winners will be randomly chosen every two weeks beginning on or about October 30, 2017 until May 14, 2018. Go to www.suntrust.com/offtocollege to enter. There are no GPA or ACT requirements.

 

WACE National Co-Op Scholarship Program 

This scholarship is only available to students wishing to attend WACE Partner Institutions. Students must have a 3.5 GPA and apply to one of these institutions. These institutions include: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts (Lowell), The University of Toledo, and the Wentworth Institute of Techology. Applications are due by February 15, 2018 and are available at www.waceinc.org.

Prudential Spirit of Community 

This scholarship is available to all high school students who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. This work must have occurred in part after September 1, 2016. If you are interested go to spirit.prudential.com or nassp.org/spirit by November 7, 2017 to apply. You must then let your counselor know to submit them to the school principal.

 

Washington University in St. Louis

Students interested in attending Washington University can ask their counselor to nominate them for the Danforth Scholars Program. Students must possess exceptional commitment to community service, high moral character, and demonstrated leadership in academic and personal achievements. The deadline to be nominated is November 15, 2017.

 

East Tennessee State University 

This is a weekend experience available to juniors and seniors who are interested in the health science program. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum 20 ACT to be eligible. To apply go to www.etsu.edu/advisement/blueweekend.php or email robertsmm@etsu.edu with any questions.

 

Berea College 

This college will be at Patterson Park Community Center on September 26, 2017 with admissions staff to answer questions for students interested in this college. Go to berea.college/luncheon to sign up.

 

University of Tennessee at Martin 

This college will now be superscoring the ACT. The final scholarship deadline is February 2, 2018 however awards may be offered on a basis of application date. Merit Based Scholarships are as follows:

Chancellor’s Scholarship - students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and the award will be based on GPA & current superscored ACT (range 36 to 27 ACT). 3000/annually

Dean’s Scholarship - students must have a 3.0 GPA and the award will also be based on ACT score (range 35 to 24). 2000/annually

Excellence Scholarship- students must have a 3.0 GPA and the award will also be based on ACT score (range 32 to 22) 1000/annually

University Scholars Program - This scholarship is open to students entering the UT Martin Honors Program. Fifteen students will be chosen. The minimum qualifications are a 28 ACT and 3.5 GPA. The deadline for this scholarship is November 1, 2017.

Admissions for this school are at least a 19 ACT and 3.0 or 21 ACT and 2.7 GPA.

 

University of Tenneseee at Chattanooga 

This college will be having an application night on September 28 from 4:30 – 7 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. Students need to apply at least 24 hours before this event & pick up a transcript from your counselor to bring with you. The application fee will be waived at this event so when you apply do not complete payment online. For question email Taylor-Clements@utc.edu for more details she is our representative. Admission requirements are a 2.85 GPA and an 18 ACT or a 2.5 GPA and a 21 ACT.

Scholarships – Chancellor’s – must have a 3.75 GPA and a 30 ACT/$8500 annually which includes HOPE scholarship.

Provost’s – 3.5 GPA and 26 ACT/$6500 annually which includes the HOPE scholarship.

Mocs – 3.4 GPA and a 24 ACT/$5500 annually which includes the HOPE scholarship

Brock Scholars/University Honors Program -Open to students who have a strong academic preparation AND want to be active participants in their own education, students who are energetic and enthusiastic about pursuing their interests and goals and are accepted to the Honors Program. Brock Scholars receive priority registration, $2000/annually combined with other scholarship,

intensive personal academic guidance, annual cultural stipend, opportunities to attend conferences, and the opportunity to travel for academic credit. There will also be an interview process. The deadline for all scholarships is December 1, 2017.

 

University of Tennessee Knoxville 

The deadline for application is November 1, 2017. Scholarship and Honors Program deadlines are December 15, 2017. Go to vip.utk.edu or commonapp.org to apply. There will be one required essay, personal statement and reference letter required for scholarships. UTK superscores the ACT and weights your GPA. It is typically recommended to also do the personal statement and reference letter for admission.

Volunteer Scholarship - Open to first time freshmen who apply by December 15, 2017 with a minimum 3.8 weighted core GPA and a superscore of at least a 28 on the ACT. Visit onestop.utk.edu/scholarships/volunteer for more information.

Honors Colleges – Haslam, Chancellor’s, and Honors Leadership - must have a 4.0 GPA/31 ACT to qualify.

1794 Scholars – must have a minimum 3.8 GPA and 28-30 ACT to qualify

Rutherford County College Night 

This will be held from 6-8 on September 6th at the MTSU Student Union Building. Forty or more colleges are expected to participate from TN and out of state universities. This is an opportunity for students to speak with admissions officers and pick up information.

 

Horatio Alger Scholarship 

This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students who have substantial financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Students must be enrolled full time in high school and plan to enter college in Fall 2018, exhibit a strong commitment to complete a bachelor’s degree at a four year college, demonstrate critical financial need, be involved in extracurricular and community activities, display dignity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be a US citizen. The American Legion Oratorical Contest

This scholarship requires applicants to write and present an original speech focusing on the US Constitution. Any student enrolled in high school in grades 9-12 can enter this contest. Students must be a US Citizen. All information is on www.tennesseelegion.org on the American Legion Oratorical tab. The deadline is January 8, 2018.

 

 

Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship 

This scholarship is for the nation’s most accomplished scholar-athletes. Students can apply at wendysheisman.com or you can see your counselor to be referred. The first phase of this scholarship must be completed by October 2, 2017.

 

Voice of Democracy  

This scholarship is sponsored by the VFW post 8422. Students can enter in grades 9-12 by submitting an essay and a three to five minute recording of their essay addressing .”American History: Our Hope for the Future” The deadline for these submissions is October 31, 2017. Tennessee Technological University 

The TN Tech Army ROTC is offering a $10,000 award for eligible students. Students must have a 3.0 GPA, a face to face interview, complete a presidential fitness test, meet basic ROTC eligibility, enroll and take basic ROTC curriculum courses, and maintain a GPA of 2.75 in college.
