Suntrust Off to College Scholarship 

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors. Beginning September 12, 2017 students can enter online once during every entry period. Two $500 scholarship winners will be randomly chosen every two weeks beginning on or about October 30, 2017 until May 14, 2018. Go to www.suntrust.com/offtocollege to enter. There are no GPA or ACT requirements.

 

WACE National Co-Op Scholarship Program 

This scholarship is only available to students wishing to attend WACE Partner Institutions. Students must have a 3.5 GPA and apply to one of these institutions. These institutions include: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts (Lowell), The University of Toledo, and the Wentworth Institute of Techology. Applications are due by February 15, 2018 and are available at www.waceinc.org.

Prudential Spirit of Community 

This scholarship is available to all high school students who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. This work must have occurred in part after September 1, 2016. If you are interested go to spirit.prudential.com or nassp.org/spirit by November 7, 2017 to apply. You must then let your counselor know to submit them to the school principal.

 

Washington University in St. Louis

Students interested in attending Washington University can ask their counselor to nominate them for the Danforth Scholars Program. Students must possess exceptional commitment to community service, high moral character, and demonstrated leadership in academic and personal achievements. The deadline to be nominated is November 15, 2017.

 

East Tennessee State University 

This is a weekend experience available to juniors and seniors who are interested in the health science program. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum 20 ACT to be eligible. To apply go to www.etsu.edu/advisement/blueweekend.php or email robertsmm@etsu.edu with any questions.

 

Berea College 

This college will be at Patterson Park Community Center on September 26, 2017 with admissions staff to answer questions for students interested in this college. Go to berea.college/luncheon to sign up.

 

University of Tennessee at Martin 

This college will now be superscoring the ACT. The final scholarship deadline is February 2, 2018 however awards may be offered on a basis of application date. Merit Based Scholarships are as follows:

Chancellor’s Scholarship - students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and the award will be based on GPA & current superscored ACT (range 36 to 27 ACT). 3000/annually

Dean’s Scholarship - students must have a 3.0 GPA and the award will also be based on ACT score (range 35 to 24). 2000/annually

Excellence Scholarship- students must have a 3.0 GPA and the award will also be based on ACT score (range 32 to 22) 1000/annually

University Scholars Program - This scholarship is open to students entering the UT Martin Honors Program. Fifteen students will be chosen. The minimum qualifications are a 28 ACT and 3.5 GPA. The deadline for this scholarship is November 1, 2017.

Admissions for this school are at least a 19 ACT and 3.0 or 21 ACT and 2.7 GPA.

 

University of Tenneseee at Chattanooga 

This college will be having an application night on September 28 from 4:30 – 7 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. Students need to apply at least 24 hours before this event & pick up a transcript from your counselor to bring with you. The application fee will be waived at this event so when you apply do not complete payment online. For question email Taylor-Clements@utc.edu for more details she is our representative. Admission requirements are a 2.85 GPA and an 18 ACT or a 2.5 GPA and a 21 ACT.

Scholarships – Chancellor’s – must have a 3.75 GPA and a 30 ACT/$8500 annually which includes HOPE scholarship.

Provost’s – 3.5 GPA and 26 ACT/$6500 annually which includes the HOPE scholarship.

Mocs – 3.4 GPA and a 24 ACT/$5500 annually which includes the HOPE scholarship

Brock Scholars/University Honors Program -Open to students who have a strong academic preparation AND want to be active participants in their own education, students who are energetic and enthusiastic about pursuing their interests and goals and are accepted to the Honors Program. Brock Scholars receive priority registration, $2000/annually combined with other scholarship,

intensive personal academic guidance, annual cultural stipend, opportunities to attend conferences, and the opportunity to travel for academic credit. There will also be an interview process. The deadline for all scholarships is December 1, 2017.

 

University of Tennessee Knoxville 

The deadline for application is November 1, 2017. Scholarship and Honors Program deadlines are December 15, 2017. Go to vip.utk.edu or commonapp.org to apply. There will be one required essay, personal statement and reference letter required for scholarships. UTK superscores the ACT and weights your GPA. It is typically recommended to also do the personal statement and reference letter for admission.

Volunteer Scholarship - Open to first time freshmen who apply by December 15, 2017 with a minimum 3.8 weighted core GPA and a superscore of at least a 28 on the ACT. Visit onestop.utk.edu/scholarships/volunteer for more information.

Honors Colleges – Haslam, Chancellor’s, and Honors Leadership - must have a 4.0 GPA/31 ACT to qualify.

1794 Scholars – must have a minimum 3.8 GPA and 28-30 ACT to qualify

Rutherford County College Night 

This will be held from 6-8 on September 6th at the MTSU Student Union Building. Forty or more colleges are expected to participate from TN and out of state universities. This is an opportunity for students to speak with admissions officers and pick up information.

 

Horatio Alger Scholarship 

This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students who have substantial financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Students must be enrolled full time in high school and plan to enter college in Fall 2018, exhibit a strong commitment to complete a bachelor’s degree at a four year college, demonstrate critical financial need, be involved in extracurricular and community activities, display dignity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be a US citizen. Applicaton deadline is October 25, 2017. Go to scholars.horatioalger.org to apply.

 

The American Legion Oratorical Contest

This scholarship requires applicants to write and present an original speech focusing on the US Constitution. Any student enrolled in high school in grades 9-12 can enter this contest. Students must be a US Citizen. All information is on www.tennesseelegion.org on the American Legion Oratorical tab. The deadline is January 8, 2018.

 

 

Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship 

This scholarship is for the nation’s most accomplished scholar-athletes. Students can apply at wendysheisman.com or you can see your counselor to be referred. The first phase of this scholarship must be completed by October 2, 2017.

 

Voice of Democracy  

This scholarship is sponsored by the VFW post 8422. Students can enter in grades 9-12 by submitting an essay and a three to five minute recording of their essay addressing .”American History: Our Hope for the Future” The deadline for these submissions is October 31, 2017. Brochures are available in guidance.

 

Tennessee Technological University 

The TN Tech Army ROTC is offering a $10,000 award for eligible students. Students must have a 3.0 GPA, a face to face interview, complete a presidential fitness test, meet basic ROTC eligibility, enroll and take basic ROTC curriculum courses, and maintain a GPA of 2.75 in college.
