In November, Siegel High School’s Model United Nations sent 22 delegates to the ALTMUN Conference in Chattanooga. They represented a diverse array of countries (Switzerland, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Singapore, and El Salvador) across eight specialized committees.

In preparation for the competition, they spent weeks researching real world issues from their assigned country's perspective and preparing a series of papers documenting potential policy solutions.  Over the three days of the conference, they debated for 8-plus hours a day against 300 other delegates from schools across the region.

In every regard, they represented Siegel and Rutherford County Schools well.  The following students received individual awards:

Galyn Terranova, El Salvador, Research and Preparation Award, Disarmament and International Security Committee

DJ Howse, Switzerland, Research and Preparation Award, Social and Humanitarian Committee

Addi Fuss, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Diplomacy and Position Award, Social and Humanitarian Committee

Annabelle Hillis, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Diplomacy and Position Award, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

Nate Jones, Switzerland, Golden Gavel Award, Conference-wide award for the delegate who most embodies the diplomatic spirit of the United Nations
