For years, Mrs. Joy Colston, a special education teacher here at Siegel High has organized and raised funds for the Rutherford County Special Needs Prom, an event specifically designed to create a magical night of fun for the special needs students from all Rutherford County Schools. Today, Mrs. Colston received a welcome surprise! Red Realty, partnered with Murfreesboro.com and other local businesses (listed below), through a campaign called Boro Blessings, donated money and services to ensure that the Special Needs Prom is a success and continues to be a success long after Mrs. Colston retires!
Through this campaign, Mrs. Colston received a check for $2000 and $300 in cash and gift cards to be used for this year’s event. Furthermore, Chik-Fil-A has stepped up to take over the organization and funding of the event after Mrs. Colston retires! That’s right … the Special Needs Prom will be financed for years to come. This is the power of community support for our schools!! Thank you to all who donated to support this special event for our special needs students.
