Donna Shearron has been teaching voice and involved in music all her life. Born in Memphis, TN, she later grew up on a farm in Henderson County, TN, where there was endless nature and church every time the doors were open. Very early on, she had a desire to sing and was encouraged by her non-musical parents! At 18, she unexpectedly decided to leave West TN and move to Murfreesboro to attend MTSU. After changing majors many times, she finally gave in to God’s call to music. She graduated with a double degree in Music Industry and Music Education. After a couple of years working in Nashville, she was granted a scholarship to attend APSU and completed a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance. She worked under Dr. Sharon Mabry (Mezzo-Soprano and author), whom she attributes with inspiring her to be a voice teacher. Returning to Murfreesboro, she began a private voice studio with the support and help of Brenda Gregory. They have worked together now for almost 40 years. She also leads worship at RLBC in Watertown, TN and is a published songwriter and poet. Meanwhile, Donna has been married to John for 40 years, raised 2 amazing daughters, and has 6 beautiful grandchildren. She is so thankful to Brenda Gregory and Gerald Patton for allowing her a studio at Siegel High School for over 20 years! She loves teaching voice and has never tired of watching young people discover their voices and seeing them blossom when they are loved and encouraged.
