Gifted students will meet in grade level groups twice per month and individually as needed. Remind texts and emails will keep you informed about meetings and information pertaining to gifted services.  Teachers are aware of your Intellectually-Gifted status and your participation options.

Each student will be assigned a meeting time slot based on his/her schedule.  Your meeting slot will generally be scheduled during PE, ROTC, Driver's Education, or a Study Hall.  If you are unable to meet me during your scheduled time, please see me on Friday of that week.  You will be informed of any special events or presentations that may require a change to our normal schedule.
 
 

High School Spectrum (Intellectually Gifted) Services Provided on a Pull-Out Basis through Special Education

Freshman Spectrum Overview - (possible topics)

Freshman spectrum pull-out services are designed to assist our intellectually gifted students in successfully making the transition to the high school environment and to assist in developing skills/strategies that will be beneficial to pursue the transitional goals of being a competitive college applicant. The following are examples of some of the topics and activities that we will cover: creating a resume, becoming proactive in creating a high school game plan; healthy stress management; resiliency; goal setting; educating students about GPA, graduation requirements, PSAT/ACT testing opportunities, encouraging participation in extracurricular activities, volunteering, programs for talented students, and developing interviewing skills.
 

Sophomore Spectrum Overview - (possible topics)

Sophomore spectrum pull-out services are designed to assist our intellectually gifted students in the preliminary steps towards pursuing post-secondary transitional goals. The following are examples of some of the topics and activities that we will cover: developing/compiling a resume, identifying and investigating field of study interests, educating students about taking and preparing for PSAT and ACT testing, exploring and applying to opportunities such as Governor’s School, Youth Leadership Rutherford, volunteerism, summer programs for talented students, and developing interviewing skills.
 

Junior Spectrum Overview - (possible topics)

Junior spectrum pull-out services are designed to facilitate a proactive approach towards the transitional process of college exploration. Intellectually gifted students will discover what the top ten things are that colleges are looking for in a high school student and identify areas for improvement in order to become a stronger candidate. 
 

Senior Spectrum Overview - (possible topics)

Senior spectrum pull-out services are designed to assist intellectually gifted students with the college application process. Transitional topics include but are not limited to: teacher recommendations; telling "your story" when writing the college/scholarship application essay; ACT/SAT/GPA requirements to maximize scholarship offerings, staying ahead of deadlines, scholarship searching, interviewing skills, how to dress for success, goal setting, financial aid, living on a college budget, and what's college really like?
