Kids Chance of Tennessee - This scholarship is open to students who have a parent who has suffered a catastrophic or fatal injury for which the parent of the parent’s family was entitled to receive benefits. Go to kidschanceoftn.org for more details.

 

 International Delta Kappa Gamma Societal Prospective Educator Scholarship - This scholarship is open to female students in either Rutherford or Cannon county schools who are planning to major in education. The scholarship is a $400 one time award. Applications are available in guidance. The deadline is March 1, 2020.

 

JANUARY 17, 2020

 

Sheltia S. Murray Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to a student who will be a freshman for the Fall Semester. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum 22 ACT to apply. Students will need a completed application, a recommendation letter, high school transcript, ACT scores and an essay to apply. Applications are available in guidance or you can go to murrayscholarship.org to apply. There will be at least two recipients of $1000 and the deadline is April 24, 2020.

 

JANUARY 10, 2020

 

Martin Luther King Jr Scholarship - This scholarship is open to African American students who are residents of Rutherford County. Students must be a current high school senior, accepted for enrollment in a four year college or university, must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and an ACT of 22 or higher. Students must attend the mandatory Honors Award Informational meeting and awards banquet. Applications are in guidance and online at MLKJRscholarshipfund.com. The deadline for this scholarship is February 28, 2020.

 

Bank of American Student Leader Program - This program is designed for juniors and seniors. Students chosen to be a student leader will work as a paid intern at a local nonprofit for eight weeks, attend a week long Student Leaders Summitt in Washington DC, develop leadership and career skills, and connect with like-minded students from your community and across the country. Application deadline is January 31, 2020 go to bankofamerica.com/studentleaders to apply.

 

Bootstraps Foundation Scholarship - This scholarship will be available to one student who wishes to be nominated by the counseling office. This scholarship includes an essay that will be required about what the student has overcome throughout his/her life to become successful.

Please see your counselor and explain why you should be nominated. We will contact the nominee to fill out an application by March 5, 2020.

 

Sigma Gamma Rho Scholarship - This scholarship is open to high school seniors. Applicants for awards must be an incoming freshman, continuing and/or transfer student at an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution in the United States. They must be planning to enroll in full-time, undergraduate or graduate courses of study. The minimum cumulative G.P.A. for a scholarship award is 2.5. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic and personal merit, as well as demonstrated involvement within their respective community, when applicable. The deadline is February 22, 2020. Scholarship applications are available in guidance.

 

Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors Scholarship - This scholarship is open to students who plan to attend college in the Fall of 2020. Students must be a resident in several chosen counties including Rutherford to be eligible. Applications are available in guidance. The deadline is April 3, 2020. The amount of this scholarship is up to $1000.

 

DECEMBER 13, 2019

 

University of TN Chattanooga - The Westbrook scholarship is available to future UTC students who plan to major in chemistry or physics. Students must complete a high school course in chemistry or physics with an A or B, have a GPA of 3.5 or above and 26 or above on the ACT and declare chemistry or physics as a major at UTC to qualify. Financial need will also be considered in the decision process. The awards are for $14,000 over four years. A separate application for admission to the university must be submitted directly to the Office of Admissions at UTC by February 1, 2020. The Westbrook application found at https://www.utc.edu/chemistry-physics under scholarships must be completed online as well as the submission of two letters of recommendation by February 14, 2020.

 

DECEMBER 9, 2019

 

MIDDLE TENNESSEE ORAL AND IMPLANT SURGERY (HEALTHCARE AS IT SHOULD BE SCHOLARSHIP) - This scholarship is available to students graduating from a Rutherford County high school who plan on attending an accredited college. Applicants must submit an essay of at least 700 words describing how they will us compassion, availability, and /or excellence to serve others. Participants can either interview an individual who reflects these ideas or provide examples of how these values can make a difference in our world. The deadline for the scholarship is April 1, 2020. Applicants must be a senior and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. The award amount is $1000. Applications are available in guidance.

 

NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE CAMP 2020 - Online applications are being accepted for graduating high school seniors to attend the National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia. Two delegates from each state will be selected to attend between June 22 and July 15 at no expense. Go to http://www.nyscamp.org to apply.

 

University of TN Chattanooga - The Dorothy Dean Shelton Mathematics scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman attending UTC who majors in mathematics. This scholarship will insure all tutition, fees, books, and room and board for an instate students is completely paid. Go to https://utcmathscholarshipapplication.questionpro.com to apply. Applicants will provide a brief essay, two letters or recommendation, and supporting materials as well. The application deadline is February 15, 2019.

 

University of TN Chattanooga - The Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship is intended for students who major in mathematics. The scholarship is a $5000 scholarship awarded over four years. This scholarship is also available at https://utcmathscholashipapplication.questionpro.com. Applicants will also provide a brief essay, two letters of recommendation and supporting materials. The application deadline is February 15, 2019 for this scholarship.

 

NOVEMBER 25, 2019

 

Kyle William Kiihnl Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is in memory of a student who lost his life by falling asleep while driving. The amount of the scholarship is $1000. Applicants must be a high school senior, finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee, and a 400 word essay must be written about the dangers of driving drowsy. Arthur K. and Sylvia S. Lee Scholarship – This scholarship is designed for children of United Cities Gas Company employees. The application can be found at www.akleefoundation.org. The deadline is June 30, 2020.

AMDA College of the Performing Arts NY and LA – There is a scholarship nomination form for these schools in guidance. See your counselor if you wish to be nominated.

 

Jack Diller Education Award - This scholarship is designed for student who display leadership qualities in the classroom and on the athletic field. Students must complete an online application, complete a 2-3 page essay on why you believe you are a deserving recipient, must provide two letters of recommendation one must be from a teacher or coach, and high school transcripts must be provided. Travis W. Watkins Accounting Firm Scholarship - This scholarship is a one-time award for $1000 for a student who has had his or her family’s life altered because of tax controversies. Students applying must submit an essay where you explain why you deserve to win this scholarship (600 words maximum). Go to www.traviswatkins.com/scholarship for more information and to apply.

 

Richard Siegel Foundation Scholarship - This scholarship is open to high school seniors who will be entering a full-time program within one year from graduation. Students must have a 2.8 GPA OR a 20 ACT and the need for financial assistance. The amount of the scholarship is up to $2500 per student per year paid in installations. Applications are available in guidance. Applications must be received before February 14, 2020.

 

University of Tennessee at Martin – The University Scholars Program offers highly motivated students a four-year experience of academic and extracurricular opportunities. Students admitted to this program receive an annual scholarship of $2500 in addition to the Chancellor’s Scholarship. This amount is renewable for four years. Go to www.utm.edu/honors to apply. B Davis Scholarship – This scholarship is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Go to www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm for information and to apply for scholarships. Students must write a 1000 word essay on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual. The deadline for applications is May 22, 2020 and the scholarship is for $1000.

 

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program - This scholarship recognizes students for their community service, academic performance, and leadership skills. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to community service, outstanding qualities of character, integrity, and leadership, be enrolled as a high school senior, reside in a community service by Comcast, plan to enroll in a full time undergraduate program at a two or four year university for the fall of 2020, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate financial need. Nashville Central High Alumni Scholarship - This scholarship is available to any student in the senior class of 2020 who is a natural or adopted descendant of a Nashville Central High School graduate or of someone who attended Nashville Central for two or more years. Applications are available in guidance. The deadline is February 22, 2020.

 

Philanthropic Education Organization STAR Scholarship - This scholarship is for women entering college for the first time. The scholarship is in the amount of $2500. This award is based on character, personality, high purpose, financial need, PEO recommendation and voice vote. The applicant must have a 3.0 GPA and must be accepted into a four year college. Sertoma Club of Nashville - This scholarship is sponsored by the Nashville ATHENA awards program. Go to www.nashvillesertomasclub.org for full information. This is a 300 word essay contest based on specific criteria. The deadline is January 18, 2020.

 

OCTOBER 4, 2019

 

JEFFERSON SCHOLARS FOUNDATION - This scholarship is offered to qualifying freshmen at the University of Virginia. This award is based solely on merit & is equal to out of state costs. Please see your counselor if you wish to be nominated.

 

STAR scholarship – This scholarship is open to high school senior girls who are applying to college. This is a $2500 scholarship and the deadline is online. The application is online at www.peointernational.org.

 

SEPTEMBER 27, 2019

 

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards – This award is available to top level high school volunteers. To be eligible, you must:

· be in grades 5-12 as of November 5

· be a legal resident of any U.S. state or Washington, D.C.

· have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred during the 12 months prior to the date of the application

· submit a completed application to a school or the head of an official designated local organization by November 5.

Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship - One student from our senior class can be nominated for this award. This student must exhibit the qualities of trust, fairness, leadership, community service, academic integrity, humility, courage, compassion, and respect. Students will be required to complete an application, provide 2 letters of recommendation, a resume, a copy of your transcript, and an essay. This is a $2500 scholarship. Please see your counselor by October 29, 2019 to be nominated. If you are selected you will be given the application materials at that time.

 

Scarlett Family Foundation - These scholarships are open to students pursuing business and STEM degrees. Students must be a high school senior, intend to enroll full time as a college freshman in the fall, demonstrate financial need, and plan to pursue a business or STEM degree at a 4 year university. A minimum 2.5 GPA is preferred. To apply go to scarlettfoundation.org. The deadline is December 15, 2019.

 

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest - This essay contest is open to all 9-12th grade high school students. The requirements include:

· The contest deadline is January 17, 2020 at 11:59 PM (EST).

· Essays can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words. Citations and bibliography are not included in the word count.

· Essays must be the original work of the student.

· John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Edward M. Kennedy are not eligible subjects for essays.

· Essays must describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. The official may have addressed an issue at the local, state, or national level. See Contest Topic and Information and Helpful Tips for Writing Your Essay for more information. · Essays about past recipients of the Profile in Courage Award will be disqualified unless they describe an act of political courage other than the act for which the award was given. · Essays about the senators in Profiles in Courage will be disqualified.

· Essays must have a minimum of five sources.

· Essays with fewer than five listed sources will be disqualified.

· All participants must cite sources they used to research their topic throughout their essay. Please use parenthetical citations within the text. We can not accept citations in footnote form.

· Essays must include a bibliography. Accepted formats include APA, MLA, or Turabian. You must use a minimum of five selected sources. Please refer to Guidelines for Citations and Bibliographies.

· Students have the choice of either submitting their essay online (preferred) or of mailing their essay. All students must complete and submit a registration form online for student and school information. For instructions on how to submit your essay, see Registration and Submission.

· Mailed in essays for the 2020 contest must be postmarked by January 17, 2020.

· All students must list the name of their nominating teacher on the registration form. The role of a nominating teacher is to provide students with support and advice during the writing of their essay. Nominating teachers are also asked to read students' essays to make suggestions for improvement before they are submitted to the essay contest. As part of this review process, the nominating teacher reviews the essay for syntax, grammatical, typographical and spelling errors and ensures the essay meets the contest requirements listed above. The first place winner and his/her nominating teacher, as representatives of their school, will be invited to receive awards at the annual Profile in Courage Award ceremony held each May at the Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston.

· Nominating teachers can be former or current teachers, but must still be teaching at the same high school as the essay participant. Usually students ask their English or History/Social Studies teachers. In very few cases, we will make an exception if a student is unable to ask a teacher from their high school to be their nominating teacher. The parent or legal guardian responsible for the instruction of home schooled students can also serve as a nominating teacher.

AES Scholarship – This scholarship is available based on Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.How to Apply Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question:

When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

Amount of award: $500.00 Deadline for entry: October 6, 2019

Tennessee Concrete Association - This scholarship is open to all high school students 16-18. Must include an essay typed double-spaced an less than 6000 words. Complete online form at www.tnconcrete.org essays will be judged on content and writing ability, essays should demonstrate a student’s awareness of concrete’s role as a building material in homes, commercial buildings,streets, & highways. The deadline is January 24, 2020.

University of Tennessee Knoxville - This year UTK is beginning the UT Promise scholarship program for UTK, UTC, or UTM. This is a last dollar scholarship including mentors through the college along with community service requirements. To qualify students must qualify for the HOPE scholarship, have a family income of less than $50,000 & assets under $75,000 excluding houses, be admitted to the particular college, and be a TN resident. Go to www.utpromise.tennessee.edu for all information and a checklist. Any questions can be sent to utpromise@tennessee.edu. November 1st is the application deadline for communication to be sent to your email regarding scholarships due December 15, 2019. The Volunteer scholarship is awarded as follows : core GPA weighted 3.8 & 34-36 ACT $8000, 3.8 & 30-33 ACT $5000, and 3.8 & 28-29 ACT $3000. September 28th is a preview day open to all interested applicants go to https://govols.utk.edu/register/FallBOP19 to register.

 

University of Tennessee Martin - Applicants must have a 19 ACT & 3.0 GPA or a 21 & 2.7 GPA to be automatically admitted. Students can fill out the application for free on Sepetember 17, 18th, & 19th, 2019 just select pay later option. UTM superscores the ACT and the scholarship deadline is February 1st, 2020. Merit based scholarships are on a sliding scale according to GPA and ACT score. University Scholars program is open to 30 freshman per year. Qualifying students receive $2500 extra a year in addition to the Chancellor’s scholarship. Must qualify for the Chancellor’s scholarship to apply. Scholarhip Aviator open on October 15th this will look at information for departmental & extra scholarships other than merit based. Preview days are October 19, November 16th and a spring date.

 

· University of Tennessee Chattanooga - UTC has added a new music therapy major for the fall of 2019. The Rollins Scholars program in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at UTC offers you the opportunity to become a high-impact leader and business student while you make lasting connections with other business majors, UTC faculty, and Chattanooga-area business leaders. The program provides up to 20 outstanding incoming freshmen students with $4,000 annual scholarships for up to four consecutive years of study, which could supplement other private and public funding received at the time of admission. Rollins Scholars receive $4,000 per year in scholarship support (for a total of four years)

· An enhanced business curriculum

· Study abroad and internship opportunities

· Professional development and career preparation

· A series of special programs, informal gatherings, and other networking opportunities with Rollins College of Business faculty, alumni and business leaders

· To apply to the Rollins Scholars program, you must be an incoming freshman and begin classes in the fall semester. You must be admitted to UTC and declare a business major (Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, or Marketing) on your application.

Admission to this program is competitive and decisions are based on a variety of factors such as:

· Extracurricular involvement

· Leadership activity

· Two letters of recommendation

· A Skype interview

· An essay or video submission

· A well-organized resume

· Work experience

· Strength of your ACT/SAT and GPA

Brock Scholars is a 4 year liberal arts general education honors program. Fifty high achieving students are selected for this program must have a 3.5 & 26 ACT to apply.

Tennessee Technological University - Students who have a 3.5 GPA and a 26 ACT are able to apply to the TN Tech Honors program.

1. Apply to Tennessee Tech. (You've probably already done that, but just in case, we thought we'd make this clear.)

2. Apply for Financial Aid by the posted deadlines.

3. Browse our website to learn about Tech Honors.

· Read the Prospective Students section of this website, and look through the Current Students section to ensure that you understand what Honors at Tech offers. · If you are a TRANSFER or a CURRENT TECH STUDENT: See For Transfer and Continuing Students for full instructions. (NOTE: Transfer and current students use a separate Honors application for 2019.)

4. Consider scheduling an Honors Ambassadors visit during the lunch hour. Dedicated and trained Honors students contribute their hard-earned free time to meet with students and parents. Please schedule and confirm a meeting well in advance. The

commitment of time and energy by Honors students ambassadors reflects their commitment to you.

5. If you would like to live in the Honors Residence Hall (Murphy Hall): · You must use Residential Life's Online Application Process for campus residence halls, as well as filling out the Honors Roommate Matching Form.

· Spots fill up fast, so applying for on-campus housing early and selecting Murphy as your first choice after Honors admission will increase your chance of getting a spot--Honors Housing is a popular choice. · For more information, see the Honors Housing webpage.

6. If you are an out-of-state/international student who wishes to apply for the HAS, you must apply for the HAS online in addition to applying for admission to the Honors Program.

7. When you come to SOAR: If you've been notified of acceptance to the Honors Program, be sure to attend all Honors sessions to fully complete the admission process. They will be listed on your SOAR itinerary.
