About me

I find criminology, criminal justice, and law the most fascinating subject imaginable.  I hope that I will be able to impart my knowledge, experience, and love for learning on to my students.
On a personal note, I am the oldest of five.  My siblings say that teaching is a "good fit" for me because I was always really bossy.  I am not sure what they are trying to say.  My husband is a Lieutenant in the Metro Nashville Police Department.  We have one baby dog, Pepper.  My nephews live one road over from me, and I  have had so much fun than hyping them up on sugar, staying up really late watching Sponge-Bob and then giving them back to their parents.   I also just bought my youngest nephew a drum set and harmonica.  I am not sure why my brother will not return my phone calls :).   I love any thing Science Fiction and on the weekends when I am not running miles and miles you might find me at a Cosplay contest or a Comic Con.
I attended Tullahoma High school and graduated when I was only 6 years old (see what I did there).   I then earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Alabama (psychology and criminal justice) , and my Master’s Degree from the University of Nevada – Reno (justice management).  I am currently working on my certification in Education.  My dream is to one day earn my PhD, primary so that my students have to refer to me as Doctor Proctor.
I  worked in the court system for 18 years.  I primary worked as a juvenile probation officer but I have also worked as a court advocate for domestic abuse victims, rape counselor, in home counselor for unruly youth, and was a member of a Foster Care Review Board.   I spent those years working with victims, the District Attorney’s office, Public defender's office, private attorneys, all types of social services workers, and law enforcement officials.  I have also had the opportunity to work with youth in various stages of the justice system.  Good or not so good I learned something from every one of "my kids".
I welcome questions or comments, and am looking forward to a great year!
